Raw and beautiful directly from the volcano

At home in the private residence of architect Sarkis Sarkisyan from the architecture firm BIG in Copenhagen, the bathroom's floors and walls are covered with STIX Raw Lava tiles. With almost terrazzo-like effects, this natural stone of volcanic basalt gives a robustness and simplicity to the bathroom. Combined with the brushed dark fixtures from Vola, the tiles create a raw and refined expression.

The raw lava tiles are extracted from the volcano Etna in Sicily, and like marble and other natural stone, are quarried in large blocks from excavations and then cut into slabs and tiles. After impregnation and waxing, the tile is resistant to water and dirt, and will over time develop a beautiful patina.
